Shuffle

Shuffle,
deck of cards smells like
bedsheets and hair,
finger prints fade from them
like breath on glass
The birds outside
somehow weather the cold,
I drink warm lemon water
from a cup and watch
They chirp
dutifully, song
of the arcing sun

Shuffle,
smoke cigarettes from memory
Shuffle,
my skin remains vigilant
Shuffle,
what's coming
